Tetris (NES)

Description

Tetris is a renowned tile-matching video game originally designed by Russian software engineer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. The game gained immense popularity and was the center of a heated rights dispute in the late 1980s before the publication rights were secured by Nintendo for a significant period. In 1996, the rights reverted back to Pajitnov, who then established The Tetris Company with Henk Rogers to oversee the game’s licensing.

In “Tetris,” players aim to complete horizontal lines by arranging different shapes, called tetrominoes, which fall into the playing field. When a line is completed, it disappears, awarding points to the player and making room for more pieces. The game continues until the playing area is filled with tetrominoes, with the goal being to delay this outcome for as long as possible to maximize the score.
