Description

“Melfand Stories” is a side-scrolling hack ‘n slash video game released for the SNES in 1994. Set in a typical fantasy RPG world, the story follows four adventurers on a quest to overthrow the traitorous Nomolwa and his allies who have usurped the kingdom of Melfand. Despite its resemblance to arcade games like “The King of Dragons,” it lacks depth in RPG mechanics, featuring simplistic stages and limited character progression. The four playable characters have minor differences in abilities, but all can parry and block attacks, making the game relatively easy. Players navigate through stages, collecting jewelry for bonus points and choosing between “easy” and “hard” paths that influence the game’s ending and difficulty. Despite its simplicity, “Melfand Stories” offers multiple endings and arcade-like gameplay, with the ability to continue after losing a life.

The old country Melfand where both men and fairy live. The King was yearned
by his people, and was ruling the country peacefully, but..he is assassinated
with the Queen by Minister Nomolwa’s rebellion, and the young Prince also
becomes missing. Nomolwa who became King voluntarily came to rule the people
with his power, and the people who disobey him were killed by monsters and
soldiers. After that, five years..four young people stood up to defeat the
evil King Nomolwa, and to regain the peaceful country.

The game is now translated to English in 2024 by GAN.
